Faye Wong leads the way at Hit Awards
By Jeanine Tan, TODAY

SINGAPORE : Elusive Chinese pop diva Faye Wong will make a rare appearance at this year's Singapore Hit Awards on Friday night.

Faye is nominated in three categories this year, including Best Female Vocalist. But her night could be ruined by Fish Leong, who may cause an upset in this category.

Malaysian singer Leong won the title last year. She will also be attending the show this year.

The other contenders for the award are Jiang Mei Qi and local songbirds Tanya Chua and Stefanie Sun.

Meanwhile, there's also a tough battle going on in the Best Male Vocalist category. Nominees Eason Chan and Wang Lee Hom will both make appearances - so will the award go to either one of them instead of hot favourites Jay Chou and David Tao?

The annual Chinese music awards show is presented by MediaCorp Radio's Y.E.S. 93.3FM and the Recording Industry Association of Singapore.

Other regional pop acts, including Jolin Tsai, F.I.R, Huang Yida , Machi, Jeff Wang and Sky Wu - will also make appearances. They will join awards show staples such as Energy, S.H.E and Mayday.

But you don't have to wait until Friday to get starry-eyed. Machi, Flower, Tanya Chua, Anson Hu, F.I.R and Energy will be performing at 5 pm today, at the Suntec Fountain of Wealth, in the "finale road show".

Tickets to the awards show - which cost $28, $38 and $58 - will be sold at a special price of $20, $30 and $50, respectively, during the finale show. Tickets are limited to four per person.

Fans can also buy their tickets from all Sistic outlets.

There are 21 categories this year. Nominated in the Best New Artiste category are promising new acts including Nan Quan Mama, Ocean Ou and local musician Huang Yida .
